Hanioti is a small village on the east coast of Kassandra peninsula. According to one version, the name Hanioti comes from the town of Chania (Crete), where the founder of the village was from. Another version suggests that the village got its name from the Greek word χάνι (chani), which means tavern. Some time ago this place was a staging post for travelers.
In winter time it is an unremarkable village, but in summer it completely transforms and attracts thousands of tourists. This is due to the convenient location: the distance to Thessaloniki is only 100 km and the nearest international airport is 85 km.
